Otherworlds: European Vacation, June 23-July 6
This is not your earth. It's summer 2018. When you leave the Inn via the Traveler's Suite, you'll receive a Eurail pass, a cellphone with numbers of all other Inn guests and a travel allowance. You don't know how long you're going to be here, but you can go anywhere you want that Eurail will take you, or that you can find a way to get to on a reasonable allowance. You can go in small groups, by yourself, or however you want. If you're not native to the twenty-teens or are under 16, please consider asking an adult to accompany you for your safety. Feel free to get into trouble and call other guests to help you!
---
How will this work?
The Traveler's Suite will be transformed into a small travel depot in Amsterdam. In the depot, you will be greeted by an NPC travel agent (with no personality to speak of), who will give you your passport (it will be U.S. for anyone who wouldn't have a passport otherwise), a bank card with a PIN and some American Express Traveler's Checks to get started, and will issue you an appropriate railpass. The NPC can help you plan your trip if you like, give you advice, or simply give you whatever passes and maps you need and send you on your way.
Note: Players will have to write the NPC themselves, so if you need a travel planner, try this one: https://eurailplanner.com/plan/trip-details
Once you exit into Amsterdam, you'll be right by the train station, so you can depart on the next train to your destination (and feel free to schedule them at your leisure). If you want to return to the Inn before you get yanked there, return to Amsterdam and you'll be able to find the Inn's travel depot when you exit the train station. People not residing in the Inn won't be able to see it.
Where can I go?
The characters won't know for sure, but they can reasonably assume they get about 2 weeks. They can go anywhere they can travel to in 2 weeks. We are not going to specify how much the travel allowance is. Assume it's enough for one person to have a nice but not glamorous 2 week European vacation with food and tourism. If you want something more elegant than that, you'll need to supplement or pool your resources.
Basically, if you think it's reasonable, it's fine.
What is the world like?
It's basically our world. In other worlds, it's none of the characters' worlds. There's nothing paranormal or magical or alien here. Your abilities will function as normal, but if they're seen by normal citizens, it might cause you some serious discomfort. Feel free to play with that.
If you want to create an incident with your powers being discovered and you being taken to experiment on, or what have you, please drop a note with the idea to this post. We're not going to say no to anything, but we do want everyone to be able to see what's going on. This is both for plotting purposes and for "uh oh, international incident" purposes.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them in this planning post. The mods will answer you! Otherwise, use this for your planning needs.
