Who: You!
What: a Halloween OtherWorlds adventure
When: October 22-November 2
Where: Room 144
Why: Why not?
How: Only the Shadow knows!
That's right. You're invited to a free-form Halloween OtherWorlds adventure!
Halloween Town: a coastal New England 'town' developed in the 1970s as a haunted town adventure park. It closed after a string of incidents resulted in the deaths of several employees and the disappearance of a family of five, bodies never discovered.
Over the years, occasional efforts were made to reopen or repurpose the town, but these efforts always stalled: unexplained accidents, disappearing equipment, and things that went bump in the night. The most recent attempt hasn't failed yet, but all signs point to it collapsing soon.
When you arrive, the town is dotted with construction tents, a few company trailers, and the town diner is still functioning. Anyone you speak to will have a story about a weird, inexplicable accident, or have met someone who saw something she swears was one of these guys.
Eat at the diner at the edge of town (which is actually fantastic and run by the town's only year-round occupants), or rummage the Sysco delivery truck abandoned in unseemly haste. Grab costumes from Ye Old Milliner and Tailor shops. Visit the inn, the mill, the vineyard, the library, the lighthouse, the fishery--if there'd be one in Haven, Maine, there's one here.
There's nothing supernatural about 75% of the events, but 25% involve actual super-nasties of the ghost, ghoul, mutant frogmen variety. Feel free to solve mysteries of your own devising, ending with your twist on 'I would've gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling kids', scarier criminal types, or supernatural baddies. Want to strand a school bus full of terrified kids? Find bodies from years' past? Encounter a tribe of gobbos or Cthuluesque fishpeople? Go for it.
The only limit on this OtherWorld adventure is your imagination.
