[ Meme ] Mistletoe

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but kissing is so delightful. And since we've no place to go, let 'em flow, let 'em flow, let 'em flow! Kisses that is.

This meme's as simple as it comes. There's mistletoe. It might be magical and making kisses happen where they shouldn't, aspirational and encouraging kisses to happen where they wouldn't, inspirational and suggesting kisses where they haven't but maybe should, or just plain existential and making excuses for kisses that already do.

How do?

1. Comment with your characters under the mistletoe. Be as descriptive or generic as you like.
2. Include any limitations (like sex or age of partner, or type of kiss).
3. Tag other characters with your characters.
4. Prosper!

Kitty doesn't celebrate Christmas, but she's happy to celebrate kissing. She isn't exactly hanging out under the mistletoe, but she's close enough that you'd be more than excused for thinking she's looking for a kiss.

This mistletoe is tricky. It keeps catching people up in it, and while he's all about helping the community, it's not a big enough threat for him to go kissing on men or having them kiss him. There's plenty of fine women in this place. Sorry, gents. He'll wait.

"Mistletoe." She drew her gaze down from the plant-sprig and glanced over at the speaker. "Oh, hello!" Her thoughtful smile turned bright, fangs flashing playfully in contrast to her painted-teal lips. "It's a tradition that if you stand below the plant, you're supposed to share a kiss."

"Oh, yeah? And where did that come from, the tradition?" He stepped closer, smiling warmly at Lillith. His eyes focused in on the fangs, but they didn't scare him. He knew that she was kind and he didn't care if she had fangs. "So, you just... If you see the plant, you have to kiss?"

"I don't know," she answered laughingly and reached out a hand to rest against his chest. "I only learned last year because Kash got stuck." Lillith cocked her head and her gleaming white hair slid against her shoulders. "I'm not stuck, so you don't have to kiss me. But I won't mind at all if you do."

Bucky moved in closer to her, nodding his head in agreement. "Stuck?" He frowned at her. "How does one get stuck under the mistletoe? Was there glue on his feet," he teased. Bucky nodded his head. "I think I can give a couple away without getting into trouble."

Bucky smiled as he leaned in, kissing her gently on the cheek. "See, I'm not too terrible, I don't think?"

Steve felt that the Christmases he spent after his time under the ice weren't... well, they didn't mean as much as his Christmases before the war. Or even during the war. One of the biggest changes was the lack of his best friend taking him out and celebrating the holiday with him.

Now things were different. Now they had each other again. In a very different and wonderful way.

He approached Bucky, distracted by the decorations up all over the place. It was almost overwhelming.

"Magic, obviously." Her voice teased, the sound of it the same as when she teased Beatryx, as if in the very next second she might call him 'silly'.

But she looked perplexed when she asked, "Who said you were terrible?" before returning the kiss, one to each of his cheeks the way she had seen her sisters do before she had left home. "You seem nice enough."

Christmas back home had been so special to them. When they didn't have anyone else, they had each other. After the time apart, Christmas just didn't have the same meaning to Bucky. The Winter Soldier didn't celebrate holidays. He didn't do anything like that.

Being here, in this place, it reminded Bucky of back home. "Hey, Stevie." He smiled a bit warmer as Steve approached. "Look at this place. Isn't it amazing how this place is coming together?"

"Magic." Another concept that Bucky had to get used to since being here. The idea that magic was real was something he'd been wrapping his mind around. His head nodded as he looked up at her, turning his head one way and then the other for each kiss.

"I... It's been a while." Bucky smiled at Lillith. "How many people have you kissed so far?"

"In my life?" Lillith looked vaguely distressed. "That's none of your concern."

And in a heartbeat, the distress melted away into laughter in red eyes with black sclera. "None so far today, not before you. I haven't been standing here long."

Bucky's eyes widened and he raised one hand to press it over hers. "No, I... I just meant today. Honest!" He shook his head and tilted his head to the side, almost feeling bad. "No, honest, I... I didn't mean..."

Bucky gave Lillith a small smile. "Ah, then I'm the first. I'm sure I won't be the last." He gave her a look. "Who wouldn't want to kiss someone as pretty as you." In a way, it almost felt like he was his old self, the charm easily coming like it was yesterday. That's what he liked to do for his friends, compliment them and make them feel good.

"I hope you get lots of nice people and none of them had garlic," he teased.

Maybe it was the loud colors oversaturating his vision or the caffeine crash-induced wandering, but Tony Stark ended up smack under the dangling hemiparasitic sprig, completely oblivious. Whatever he wanted to say came first, and the rest of his body followed. "I had a thought." He began, gesturing at his partner in construction. "About the specs. Nothing of substance just-- how damn nice it is not having to finesse all the little contract details. You know?"

However many times in his life Tony'd been told to watch where he was going, it apparently hadn't stuck. He'd been struggling with a plastic clamshell full of carrots and celery when he'd bumped right into Alec. "Whoopsie." He muttered, sticking a sliced carrot in his mouth when the jostling had been enough to get it open.

Allison is more focused on other things than the sprig of mistletoe she happened under. She's surveying the room, evaluating the people that have become the population of this new community she's been forced into--and useless as it is, she's checking all the exits.

She's also doing a healthy enough amount of brooding that you can absolutely catch her off guard with a kiss. Attacks, she's ready for, but a kiss? She'll never see it coming boy kiss and girl kiss welcome.

Stephanie had explained the poison-twig-brings-smooches tradition to Vax'ildan, and demonstrated how it worked very nicely. Those were whose kisses he wanted, by and large, so he definitely wasn't planning on positioning himself under the smooch-plant growing festively above. But magic is sneakier than even a rogue, and wouldn't you know it, the thin dark half-elf happened to find himself standing under it without even realizing it had happened.
