State of the Characters + Who Should Thread

Hi all! So I know that as a teacher, I have just come out of a fog of "So, September. What?" And while reasons are not the same across the board, I know I'm not the only person in a state of "Wait what" about how things are currently going in the game.

So! Let's help each other get caught up.

This isn't going to be some big, formal questionnaire. I just want us to use this space for--

1. Telling us what your characters are up to. Say as much or as little as you want about how your characters are doing and/or what you want them to be doing in future.

2. Asking for threads. Is there a character or group you're interested in making ties with, but you haven't reached out yet? Toss it out there.

3. Suggesting threads to others. Often times, we don't see the full potential for our own characters and it takes another person's perspective to see comedy and drama gold.

You can do one big comment for all your characters or separate comments for each, whichever works best for you.

Vex'ahlia

Vex has kind of a lot going on. I'm going to bullet list, because I'm lazy:
- "managing" the boutique, can be found there part of most days
- figuring out what it means to be a cleric of Pelor, so spending more time in the temple
- has joined the shift rotation for the clinic
- watching her husband work on the forge
- checking in on her brother and husband, and everyone else she considers family (they creep because they love)
- and oh yeah, at this point, she is noticeably pregnant, coming up on the halfway point. family & friends would have been told well before now. people who haven't been told are probably figuring it out.

Things she's not doing so much these days:
- hunting. for a variety of reasons, she's sticking closer to the inn. also hunting is exhausting when you're growing a person
- flying. this is starting to improve, but the past few months she's been grounded, and grumbling about it
- puking! the morning sickness has passed
- drinking, obviously, although she still thinks it's weird that pregnant women aren't supposed to have alcohol. or coffee. or or or...

Things I want to do with her:
- Vex vs. vending machine
- a clinic/healing thread (either with someone needing healing or someone else who works in the clinic)
- Vex & Steph (can wait until we finish some of our other threads, Sil)
- threads that are not directly or entirely about her pregnancy. yes, she's pregnant, but she's a person first, and writing only pregnancy would bore me

Emma

Still with the bullet lists, because it's working for me.

- Inktober! Emma is making at least one ink drawing a day this month. Some she may hang up in the kitchen or the door to their suite, others she may put in the magic journals (I have no artistic ability and will probably not go searching for others' art that could stand in for hers, so don't expect as players to actually see much/any of her drawings) She posted about Inktober, and will continue to encourage others to participate.
- Cooking. If it's not chicken, and you didn't cook it yourself, there's a good chance Emma cooked it. Prepared foods are available for reheating when she's not in the kitchen. If there are specific dishes you're interested in, talk to her, and she'll do her best
- Worrying about Jag, and to a lesser extent Sunny. Good thing about worrying, it helps drown out her own feelings for awhile. But I think the closer we get to her anniversary at the inn, the harder that's going to be.
- (ETA, because I forgot) Training either in the gym or out in the desert, with her projections, and/or self-defense/combat (unarmed, sword, staff, shorter clubs mostly)

Things I want to do with her:
- Inktober stuff
- she wants to make eclairs/other choux pastries (idk, the idea hit me the other day)
- horseback riding/more time around the stables

Loki

I'm going to copy the bullet point format because I am a special kind of lazy.

Loki's usual stuff:
- Daily clinic duty, mostly studying but I suspect he's been pressed into dealing with patients a few times. He's not confident enough with magical healing to use it on anyone but Thor (who generally forgives when healing attempts make the original problem worse).
- Teaching Annie balance/climbing
- Astronomy (kind of) on the roof above his room, with or without Liz
- Annoying Thor and Tony
- Trying to create ice and freeze things out in the desert. It's not going well.
- Occasionally makes fishing nets at the beach (even more occasionally uses one to make sure it works)
- Generally making his own fun

I don't think I have anything specific I really want to do with him, though The Floor Is Lava is definitely going to happen in the near future. If anyone wants him, he's available!!

John is more or less over the extreme shock of this not being one of his adventurer dreams.

He's trying to learn all he can about life after 1913.
Which will involve any science experiments he can practice.
Horseback ride.
Tinker with an automobile if there's one around.

Mary

Things new with them
- Started sleeping with Hathaway. Probably smiling a little more. Hasn't been obvious about this otherwise and will probably come out awkward during American Thanksgiving. (You're welcome Sam and Dean)

- Working at the bakery (with I think Regina?). She's kept some of Pike's more popular items and some of her own. She's going to be doing some themed months soon where like, there will be pastries from different people's worlds (if possible to provide). Probably start that in November. Also the amount of pie choices has increased


Possible Threads
- I always love more kid threads with her because they are sad and happy at the same time. Bittersweet, yo.
- I think I'd like for her to try and learn to draw so she can sketch monsters from her past.

Liz Parker

Things new with them
- She's working with Tony Stark on getting data for the inn
- Doing some astronomy with Loki
- Works at the bakery, the restaurant, the clinic, and is on the welcoming committee
- Currently avoiding Brad because he awkwardly kissed her

- Almost done building an obstacle course with Kitty. This has been being built for months now and looks intricate, but often covered by tarps, etc, so it's mostly a secret as to what it's all about.

Possible Threads
- More teenager threads!
- I'd love for her to try and befriend Jag again (even if it's super awkward)
- I'd love for there to be some opportunity for her to use her science to help someone out of a pickle of some sort.

Buffy

Totally stealing Nat's format!

What's new with Buffy
- Actually learning to cook better from Carlos.
- Always on nightly 'patrols' especially after the attacks
- Sparring/training at the gym so she can be found there most days

Possible threads
- She actually is feeling a little self conscious about only having a high school (and barely that) education so threads either at the library or trying to figure out what she wants to be when she grows up since there isn't Slaying here.

- Would like to learn more about magic, both because of Carlos and Willow.

Bo Dennis

- She's slowly becoming more feral and she's about to go through The Dawning so when she gets hungry, she gets Hungry.
- Is dating Sam and Molly
- As far as I remember, her current additional feeding partner is River Song (if you would like to have your pup as another sex/feeding partner, let me know. Requirement: female or non-gendered only)

Possible Threads
- Hot awkward yoga anyone?
- Training/Sparring

Things new with them
- Somehow more zen with whatever Rocket throws at him right now??
- Kinda of, maybe, almost certainly really likes Clarice, but he hasn't really connected the dots yet.
- Continues to go for long runs in the morning (approx at 5am). These are full out runs that most people would jog.
- Noticeably stiff around Annie like he's walking on egg shells most of the time (this is not a natural thing for him, kids)

Possible Threads
- Want him to annoy your pup? Sure!
- Want him to be around with a wild encounter? Sure!
- Occasionally he sleeps on the couch in the lobby if Peter put a sock on the door (which almost never means what most people think it means except the 'don't come in' part).

Tony Stark

Tony is actually doing extremely well, compared to how he's been.

What Tony's had going on:
-After his rough start he's got his groove figured out. Hated room now a less hated workspace.
-Since he has none of his money or toys he's forcing himself to get along with most people he comes across. As much as he can, anyway.
-Camping. Yes, Tony Stark in a tent is hilarious and he's heard no end of it. He's making plenty of observations about the hotel and the surroundings and camping is one way to do it. Usually with Peter, Liz, or Thor.
-Lab aspirations with Kitty an ongoing thing. Nerds unite!
-Taking his health to heart. The battle for the inn was a wakeup call so there's less undereating and overdrinking for him.
-Lots of back and forth about the future with Thor. He now has knowledge about the events of Infinity War and it's weighing on him just a tad.
-His suit that got fritz'd in the fight is repaired so Iron Man is back online.

What I'd like Tony to get up to:
-When he's not on a tinker-binge, Tony keeps himself busy with serving community needs. Building, fixing, etc.. He likes a challenge, and honestly he does like helping, so anything that could use a good mechanic is totes on the table.
-Partying. He's settled down but a nice drink with good company is never off the table.
-If there are any child/teen characters he hasn't come across, they will be subjected to the full force of Uncle Tony. He lowkey wants kids and anyone young enough activates these instincts. Oops.

What's new with Dean
- Is blood brother to Miguel
- Is sleeping with Jane
- Is plotting revenge on Clarice
- Head will explode when he knows his mom is having sex. :p Not really - he actually dealt with it pretty good on the show.

Possible threads
- Someone show him how to make a weapon. He would probably be good at forging knives/swords/pointy things
- Get in a prank war not necessarily a brotherly one
- Piss off a magical person and maybe be a real jackass for a day or three. :p

Jack O'Neill

Things new with them
- Just arrived, but looks as if he has more or less come to terms. (He is still doing things like looking for a way out, but he's a) been here before... sort of and b) has faith in his team to get him out)
- Can often be found playing with a yoyo
- At the gym keeping fit

Possible Threads
- Jack likes to box so he'd love to find a few partners. He's used to boxing with a dude much bigger and stronger than he is, so anyone is good.
- Jack likes to fish! Anyone want to fish with him??
- Meeting more people (I'm about to throw up an ota)
- Science people to talk science to him so he can a) be snarky and b) miss Carter more
- He enjoys pie on occasion.

Mia

What's new
Everything! She's brand new!
- Rocket is her brother because he was made like she was even though he's more like Leo with organic parts to go with mechanical.
- She is still using the persona of Anita, the only one at the inn that knows there's more to her is Rocket.
- She can be found at the restaurant/cafe helping as well as cleaning around the inn. Anything that makes her seem unassuming.
- She has tentatively reached out to Tony for help with her maintenance if needed.

Possible threads
- Anything and everything. She's new!

Thor | Peter | Hurley

Thor
Doing:
• Teaching combat; taking drawing/cooking lessons.
• Agonizing over/overthinking [spoilers] and over whether or not Jane is Sif.
• Drinking with others.
• Perpetually annoying his baby brother and Tony.
• Occasionally dozing off in public places.
• Gardening - bad at it, but tries hard.
• Doing physically-demanding tasks for people as needed / by request.
• Works out/does combat training (work outs frequently happen at the gym; combat training usually happens further away).

What I want him to do:
• I want Thor to braid someone's hair. Please. Thor loves hair. Please let him braid your hair or style it.
• Make more close friends in general.
• Tell more dumb stories about him and Loki.

Peter
Doing:
• Studying.
• Training Annie.
• Usual lovey-dovey stuff with Liz.

What I want him to do:
• Positive CR in general

Note: I really don't know. I've actually been on the strugglebus with Peter lately. He's actually stressed out about a number of different things lately, and I think that he's got some issues he needs to work through, but I don't know how. He feels like people treat him like a child but expect him to act like an adult, and he publicly shows less passion than he did say, at game start. If anyone has any ideas for that, I'd appreciate it because I'm in a rut right now.

Hurley
Doing:
• Working the kitchens - cooking and cleaning.
• Listening to music; Hurley's definitely the type to get his groove on and he doesn't care about being embarrassed.
• Playing board/card games. If you like games, you've probably played with/against Hurley.

What I want him to do:
• Use his powers. He comes from a place before he knows wtf is going on with that and legitimately thinks he's crazy, so it'd be fun to actually do something with that.
• Make more friends doing slice-of-life stuff.
• Listen to people's problems.
