Here, have a few helpful scenarios for test-driving. Feel free to ignore them and make your own.

I.
Wherever you were, you aren't any longer. You took a turn, a step, blinked and you're somewhere else entirely. A long dusty road leads from nowhere to an oasis (or a nightmare, depending on your taste) of pink and bright light in the midst of the scrub desert and there's nothing and no one else in sight. If you linger long enough on the road, one of the Inn's residents will find you, but you feel noticeably drawn to come inside.

The pink and gold lobby looks like a bunny puked Easter everywhere, and the guy at the reservation desk looks a sort of silly putty shade of pinkish grey. He knows you by name and has a room reserved for you, but other than offering you fresh towels, that's all he has to say. Chances are, one of the residents will intercept you before you talk to Darryl the shade. They'll give you a guest basket with toiletries and chocolates and whatever else Caroline thinks a newcomer needs, and explain (nicely) that you're stuck here, but hey, it's not so bad. It's pretty safe, anyway. At least... so far.

II.
The red, gold and gaudy pink of the Copper Cafe overflows with residents. It's morning, the one and only time nearly everyone finds themselves in the same space for a short window before going about their day. The scent of fresh coffee laces the air, mingling with the buttery aroma of fresh baked pastry. The shade who serves as a cook, Kahni, awaits any orders that include chicken (chicken, not eggs), and Carlos has staffed one of the residents who can cook to make anything else you'd like. Kitty's pouring drinks -- no reason not to drink bloody maries or mimosas on your permanent holiday. Grab a spot at the counter or take a seat at an empty table, now that you're a resident too, there's no better way to start your day.

III. Network

The whites of her eyes seemed to dominate her face as she called on the lightning to strike the ground in front of the large Sentinel approaching Cyclops. It was a training exercise but she knew that she couldn't lower her guard. The threat was real even in this imaginary arena.

There was a flash of electricity as the lightning hit its target, but when the flash dissipated, Ororo found herself not in the Danger Room but in a hotel lobby. Confusion marked her features as she spun slowly in a circle.

"Kurt?" Her first thought was that Kurt had teleported them out of the Danger Room to - someplace else.

From the bar, Kitty saw the flash of lightning and thought Thor, but her gaze skimmed the bar and she saw him sitting and talking. Besides, he wouldn't use lightning in the inn. It could be almost anyone who had magic, but something in Kitty's gut tangled and tickled.

She slipped out from behind the bar into the lobby and... hoshit. White-eyed Storm.

Kitty didn't even pause to register they might be from different universes. Ororo in a power-boost was nothing to screw around with. "Hey, 'Ro!" she called and pasted on a big smile. Hey, 'Ro! You remember me, right? And even if she didn't, good chance it would get Kitty close enough to bring her down from the mental clouds before anything went wrong.

It was not the voice that she was expecting, nor did she recognize the girl. Was this a different test from Raven? A way to tell friends from foe? She let the crackle of energy around her slowly die down, but her guard was still up.

She couldn't ask if it was Raven, she'd say no if it was a test. The easiest question was, "you know me?" Because very few people called her 'Ro at the mansion.

That answered that question.

"Yeah, I do. Almost better than you know yourself." Kitty smiled but it was a sad sort of smile. Any 'Ro was better than no 'Ro, but it wouldn't be the same as before. "I'm Kitty." She held out her hand. "Shadowcat."

Ororo immediately guessed that she was an Xman but since she didn't know her, she assumed one of Raven's teammates. The older ones with Scott's brother and Hank.

She shook her hand. "Shadowcat is your code name?" Ororo looked around the lobby, "is this a different Danger Room test?"
